You’re allowed (and encouraged!) to feel damn good about yourself🔥 ⁣ Confidence is something we all want + deserve, but once we get it, people start seeing us differently.⁣ ⁣ It’s like the world tells us, “Love yourself, just not TOO much. Be confident, but don’t make others feel small.”⁣ ⁣ And here’s the truth, no bullshit.⁣ ⁣ Your confidence + love for yourself, can’t make others feel small. There’s no such thing as loving yourself “too much.”⁣ 🙅🏼‍♀️ ⁣ You are not responsible for someone else’s feelings toward you. Quite honestly, it’s not even your business.⁣ ⁣ You can only love others as much as you love YOURSELF. And if we want the world to be a happier, more caring place, we need to love LARGE.⁣ ⁣ We need to feel passionately obsessed with our lives, our hearts, our gifts, our talents, and our joys.⁣ ⁣ We need to learn to look in the mirror + say “Damn, you’re pretty awesome. I love you + I appreciate you.”⁣ ⁣ And we need to encourage others to do the same without placing limits on what we’re comfortable with.⁣ ⁣ Today, I encourage you to show yourself some real love. Amp yourself up. Exude confidence. Compliment your power + talents + yes, even your body.⁣ ⁣ Take up all the space. Think all the positive, truths. Speak confidently and ex-out all the negative BS the world has tricked you into believing. ⁣ ⁣ When you allow yourself to feel ridiculously good about YOU, the rest of your life starts to shift. ⁣ ⁣ You begin to change perspective. Because here’s the deal: if you’re focused on elevating + stepping into your best self, you’ll experience constant change + growth. ⁣ ⁣ But guess what? So will the people around you, and you’ll have to learn to not only be OK with that, but recognize + respect it. ⁣ ⁣ Everyone’s changing. Your bestie isn’t the same girl you knew 3 months ago. Your dad isn’t the same man you lived with growing up. Your boss isn’t the same woman who initially hired you. ⁣ ⁣ Stop treating them like they are. Stop acting like you know someone just because history says you do. Put the effort in to re-meet the people in your life + give them permission to own their space. ⁣ ⁣ How can you do that? Start by having tough conversations and asking brave questions. Questions like:⁣ ⁣ •What’s a misconception I, and others, have about you?⁣ •What’s the biggest struggle you’re facing today?⁣ •How would you like me to change how I interact with you?⁣ •Is there anything I do or say that makes you uncomfortable?⁣ •What’s a change you’re super proud of recently? ⁣ ⁣ Then listen. And act. And allow your perspective to shift in an authentic, intentional way. ⁣ ⁣ No matter what you THINK you know about someone, it might no longer be true. People who knew me in college, don’t know the woman I am today. A client I worked with last year, didn’t work with the same CEO I am today. Men I dated in the past DEFINITELY didn’t date the same woman I am right now. ⁣ ⁣ And if I can make those changes, so can the people around me. Today, I encourage you to open your mind + ears and re-meet someone you “know.” You just might be surprised.

If there’s one thing I’m ready to completely disappear off the face of the earth, it’s this ⬇️⁣👏🏼 ⁣ Stepping outside and immediately evaluating whether my outfit will “attract attention.”⁣ ⁣ Feeling uncomfortable, scared, or on egg shells the instant I’m not within my own 4 walls.⁣ ⁣ Needing a man to come with me if I: go somewhere at night or have a long walk ahead.⁣ ⁣ Choosing which side of the street I walk on based on the number of men up ahead.⁣ ⁣ Walking with my head down and eyes averted because I’m hoping to blend in.⁣ ⁣ Constantly resisting the urge to yell profanities at every man who whistles, screams, or hollers at me.⁣ ⁣ Cat calling is NOT complimenting. Whistling is NOT cute. I am NOT your “baby” or “sweetie” or “damnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!” ⁣ ⁣ I am a living, breathing human being. Treat me, and every other person, as such. ⁣PLEASE. ⁣ I’m sick of the questions like: “what we’re you wearing though?” Because I’ve been cat called in this outfit, and the next (swipe ➡️) ⁣ ⁣ A better question would be: “where were you on the day they taught respect? Apparently not in class.”⁣ ⁣ Keep your comments and your hands to yourself. If you feel the need to yell at a group of women, don’t. If you’re thinking about slowing your car down to whistle and stare at my ass, think again—keep moving.⁣ ⁣ It is NOT a female’s job to avoid these situations or choose a better outfit or silently walk by and ignore them. NO.⁣ ⁣ It is everyone’s job to maintain a level of respect and kindness you’d reserve for your most loved grandmother on CHRISTMAS FREAKING MORNING.
