I’m new to this whole “Trader Joe’s Obsession.” The first time I walked into the store I was ridiculously overwhelmed – similar to my first experience with the 3-story Forever 21 in NYC. There’s a whole bunch of stuff and seemingly no true order.
Now I’m a seasoned vet (lol JK I’ve been like 6 times), but I know what I’m looking for and I’m able to grab it and go. Plus, the free samples and ridiculously nice staff are perks too.
If you’re new to Traders (as the OGs like to call it), or if you’re just looking for new and delicious foods to add to your weekly list, keep reading.
Side note: this isn’t a list of “healthy” foods. This is a list of foods I eat because they taste REALLY good and they make me happy.
Trader Giotto’s Organic Red Lentil Sedanini: One serving of this pasta has 13 grams of protein and less than 200 calories – so if you’re a pasta lover but looking for something that offers more than carbs, you’ve met your new bff. My tip: for a softer noodle, cook the pasta a little longer than the package says.
Chicken Shawarma Thighs: If you’re a fan of Lebanese food, you need this in your kitchen. Grill, bake, crock pot… whatever float your boat. Don’t forget the pita bread, hummus, tzatziki sauce, and feta.
Chile Lime Chicken Burgers: I’ve been taking one of these to work for lunch every day this past week. They’re full of flavor and weirdly filling. My tip: thaw them in the fridge for 2-3 hours before broiling (yes, the package says to do this, no I didn’t read the package until after).
RX Bars: You’ve heard me rant and rave about these bars before – they’re just THAT good. They’re also silly expensive. However, I can oftentimes find them at Traders for cheaper than other stores! So you know I stock up.
Cilantro Jalapeno Hummus: I’ll be honest, I don’t really like jalapenos. But, I do really love hummus. And somehow this combo just works… a little too well if you ask me. Delicious spread on pita and filled with chicken or just used as a dip.
Cheese: You can’t go wrong with Trader Joe’s cheese. It’s basically impossible.
Speculoos Cookie Butter: Spoon. This. Into. Your. Mouth. You’re welcome.
Cookie Butter Sandwich Cookies: Better yet – spoon out your cookie butter with one (or two) of these.
Mango & Cream Bars: These frozen treats are the perfect end to a delicious meal. If you’re craving something sweet but want to keep it light, these will be your go-to.
Vanilla Almond Spiced Chai: Lighter on the flavor – not too sweet and not too heavy. I could drink this every day.
